On the first Saturday in February three hardy volunteers from Byford turned out on a cold wet morning to carry out the Byford litter pick and collected a grand total of nineteen black bags of assorted rubbish.
Most of it came from the sides of the A438 and the pull in at the end of Byford Common and it consisted mainly of fast food cartons, sweet and ice cream wrappers, drinks cans, agricultural plastic and bits of cars and bikes. A slightly more exotic note came from the discovery of about 10 vodka bottles (empty) and two wine bottles (also empty) scattered along the edge of the woodland by the pull in.
Thanks to Balfour Beatty for supplying the equipment and to John Macklin for collecting the bags from Byford.
